InfoTech Night 2008: From Chaos to Control
This year's InfoTech Night theme has been announced - From Chaos to Control.
In a world that is constantly developing new forms of communication and methods of information-gathering and -sharing, the problem is no longer whether information is available, but rather sorting through the mountains of available information to filter out what is relevant and useful.
This issue can, and often does, create very time consuming processes which can be observed in various aspects of everyday life. From using a search engine to find interesting and accurate information to mining complex databases in a large firm to optimize performance and efficiency, information pollution is everywhere.
How do we deal with the rapidly increasing availability of information to maintain the integrity of our findings?

InfoTech Night 2006: DiversITy - IT and You
Last year's InfoTech Night was yet another successful year for MISA's annual signature networking event. Hosted in November 2006, MISA focused on highlighting the importance of having an IT background in an increasingly technological society. Our goal was not to encourage students to change their field of study from another concentration to MIS, but rather to showcase how also studying MIS is an excellent complement to any other primary area of study, as it enhances you skill set in a very practical way and makes you a more employable person in the eyes of today's dynamic firms.
InfoTech Night 2006 featured three keynote speakers, six attending firms, and prime networking opportunities for students and company representatives alike. For the first time in the history of MISA's InfoTech Night, we moved the event off SFU campus at the trendy downtown Century Restaurant & Bar, featuring a full three-course meal.
